The London Eye

Impress or irritate your friends by correcting them if they dare call this a ‘ferris wheel’, this is a cantilevered observation wheel, and golly gosh it’s a popular one. 3.5 million or so people a year go up here for a look over the Thames, Westminster and the fine city of London.  The celebrity who’s done her fair share to boost those numbers is Jessica Alba, having gone on a whopping 31 times, beating rival eye-goer Kate moss by a mere 6 rides. The eye was originally called the Millenium wheel and aimed to be finished by the time 1999 became the year 2000.  However, it was plagued with problems, and not finished in time. Obnoxious billionaire Richard Branson flew an airship emblazoned with ‘BA (British Airways) can’t get it up’ while his rival struggled against the difficulties of putting up such a revolutionary structure, in a prank that was classic Branson.  There have been over 5000 engagements on the eye since it opened. Will you be the next?
